The Cookson Company, Inc. StormDefender Model Roll-Up Overhead Doors
The structural components of a roll-up door consist generally of a “curtain” door panel (horizontal steel slats) plus edge guides (left-side and right-side vertical guides affixed to appropriately designed building elements) that support the curtain door panel.
- Doors are available in 1/16” size increments (both horizontal and vertical).
- Material options are certified structural carbon steel or stainless steel (304 /316).
- Edge guides are mounted to steel, concrete or masonry (filled CMU) jambs, located either inside or outside the building.

Table Note:
*Width is curtain door width from inside edge to inside edge of edge guides
A label identifying the door size and rating is located on the exterior side of the bottom curtain bar.
Non-structural components that do not contribute to the door rating include:
- Shafts and Rollers (what the door 'curtain' rolls around when raising).
- Head Plates or Brackets (Supports the Shafts)
- (An identifying Job No. is stamped on these brackets for product traceability)
- Operator (a drive mechanism to lift (open) or lower (close) a door)
- Seals
- Sensors and Sensor Mounts
- Wear profile (edge of slats, reduces wear and opening/closing noise)
