RATINGS
ASTM E119-05a: 1 hour
An 8’ X 13’ horizontal assembly was constructed using 2X6 dimensional lumber spaced 16” o.c. and fastened to perimeter lumber using two 10d common nails at each joist end. A 30” X 60” rough opening was framed out in the center of the assembly for the insertion of the stair assembly. The exposed side was covered with two layers of 5/8” thick Type X gypsum wallboard. The face layer was attached using 2-1/4” long 8d nails spaced 12”o.c. An 8” wide area around the perimeter of the opening was covered with a single layer of gypsum wallboard to simulate field conditions.
