The 36-in. max. width product is a fire barrier consisting of two packages. The first package (bottom package) is composed of one (1) layers of 0.002” thick stainless steel foil (facing bottom) and one (1) layer of vitreous silica fiber fabric (facing top), or two (2) layers of 0.002” thick stainless steel foil, that sandwich an 8 pcf ceramic blanket core. The second package (top package) is composed of two (2) layers vitreous silica fiber fabric or two (2) layers of 0.002” thick stainless steel foil, that sandwich an 8 pcf ceramic blanket core.
The packages are fabricated into a "V" configuration or a draped configuration and are provided with flanges (foil and fabric, fabric, or foil) that allow for attachment to a substrate using fasteners and washers. Each fire barrier system consists of both an upper and a lower package for horizontal assemblies. Galvanized steel retainers are spot welded to the lower packages of horizontal systems. A proprietary intumescent sealant, applied in 3/8-in. beads, is used to seal the fire barrier system in installation.
