Transom and/or sidelight fire door frame assemblies equipped with transom panels or transom lights and/or side panels or sidelights for walls at least 4" thick. Frames incorporating metal clad or wood panels are for use with single swing and standard pairs in openings rated up to and including 90 minutes.

Frames incorporating transom lights and/or side lights glazed with 1/4 in. thick Listed wired glass are for use with doors rated up to and including 45 minutes. The glass may be installed at the job site. Frames may also incorporate an additional piece of 1/4 in. thick tempered glass in the opposite rabbet.

Frames may be fabricated using any combination of transom light/panel or sidelight/panel configurations.

Exception: Fire door frame assemblies rated for 60 minutes and equipped with transom lights and/or sidelights for walls at least 4-7/8 in. thick. These frames are intended for installation with fire doors rated 60 minutes. FireLite glazing is to be used in this assembly.

Frames rated 45 minutes with 1/4 in. thick Listed wired glass also comply with the requirements for positive pressure fire testing as found in ISO 3008 and BSI 476.

Maximum Width and Height – 13'6" wide x 12'0" high when installed on a masonry noncombustible sill in a masonry type opening.
Maximum Width and Height – 12'10" wide x 11'4" when installed in a drywall opening either floor mounted or mounted on a masonry or drywall kneewall partition.

60 MINUTE FRAME

Maximum Width and Height – 10 '2" wide x 10'1" high when installed on a masonry noncombustible sill and in either a masonry or drywall type opening.
Maximum Door Opening - -8'0" wide x 10'0" high.
Maximum Transom Panel Size – Not to exceed 54" in either direction. Metal clad panels are to be constructed of 1/2" thick "Marinite I" manufactured by Johns-Manville Corp., clad with minimum 20 gauge steel faces adhered with 3M No. 2318 adhesive.
Maximum Side Panel Size – Not to exceed 54" in either direction. Side panels are to be constructed identical to the transom panel.

45 MINUTE TRANSOM AND/OR SIDE LIGHTS

Maximum Light Size – Not to exceed 54" in either direction.
Maximum Exposed Glass Area – 1296 in2.

60 MINUTE TRANSOM AND/OR SIDE LIGHTS

Maximum Light Size – 54" wide x 77-3/4" high.
Maximum Exposed Glass Area – 2721 in2.

45 MINUTE TRANSOM AND/OR SIDE LIGHTS WITH SPECIAL GLAZING

When the individual lights incorporate 1/4" thick wired glass manufactured by Pilkington Glass Co. and is to be glazed in place with Pemko FG3000 "Fire Glaze" compound the individual light size may be as follows:

Transom Lights – The maximum opening width and height shall not exceed 98" wide x 36".
Side Lights – The maximum opening width and height shall not exceed 96" in either direction with the total exposed glass are not to exceed 4608 in2.

Frames that are oversize for shipping purposes may require field splicing. Assemblies exceeding 10'10" in width and 10'0" in. in height must have splices in the vertical direction only.


Pressed steel frames with transom panel (honeycomb core) for walls at least 4" thick. These frames are intended for installation with single swing fire doors. Frames incorporating solid panels are for use with doors rated up to and including 3 hours.

Maximum Overall Width and Height of Frame – 50" wide x 11'0" high.
Maximum Door Opening – 3'6" x 7'0".
Maximum Transom Panel Size – 3'6" wide x 3'0" high.


Fire door frame of the single unit pressed steel type with transom panel or transom light for walls at least 4" thick.

Frames incorporating steel clad Marinite transom panels are for use with single swing doors in openings rated up to and including 90 minutes.

Frames incorporating transom lights glazed with 1/4" thick listed wired glass are for use with single swing doors in openings rated up to and including 45 minutes.

Frames incorporating metal clad or wood panels are for use with fire doors rated up to and including 90 minutes.

Frames incorporating transom lights and/or sidelights glazed with 1/4" thick listed wired glass are for use with fire doors rated up to and including 45 minutes. The glass may be installed at the job site. The frames may also incorporate an additional pane of 1/4" thick tempered glass in the opposite rabbet.

Exception: Fire door frame assemblies rated for 60 minutes and equipped with transom lights and/or sidelights for walls at least 4-7/8" thick are intended for installation with fire doors rated for 60 minutes and FireLite glass is to be used.
