Hitzer Models 55FA and 82FA Coal Fuel Central and Supplementary Furnaces Company: Hitzer, Inc.

Model 82FA:

The Model 82FA is a wood and coal burning furnace 48" high, 24" wide, 30-1/4" deep, and has a 7" diameter flue pipe. The chimney ring is located at the side of the unit and is 1/8" thick steel construction. The top heat outlet is 12" in diameter. The firebox construction is of 16 ga. steel where exposed to fire, and is continuous seam welded.

This furnace has a secondary combustion chamber on the right side, 9-1/2" wide x 4-1/4" out x 35" hiqh. A direct damper activates or by-passes the secondary combustion chamber, is located in the upper riqht center of the firebox. When this damper is closed, the qases exit out of a 9" x 7" opening, 1/2" above the grate.

The fuel door, ash door are 16 ga. steel, with - 1/ 4" millboard and a 16 ga. steel inner plate. The shaker grate is cast iron.

The sides, front, back and top shrouds of the furnaces are of painted 22 ga. cold rolled steel construction. The sides of the firebox are lined with firebrick 9" x 4-1/2" x 1-1/4". The bottom firebrick sits next to the cast iron grate. This furnace has a double back in rear to use the heat off the rear of the firebox, except at the center, where the combustion air intake is lcoated.

A return air and air filter housing is attached to the lower rear of the furnace, and is made of 22 ga. painted steel and measures 22" wide x 20" high x 20" deep, and encloses the distribution air blower.

Electric components on the unit consist of: a fan limit control BFL 105 and Dayton 4C054A distribution air blower of 980 CFM. Rated amps 6.8 (actual 6.0) 110 Volts. An alternate distribution air blower for the central furnace is a Dayton 465 CFM.

The lower sides of the shroud have removable panels for gravity air flow operation of the furnace. Primary combustion air enters through a 3" x 5" intake located at the lower rear center of furnace and controlled by a Bi Metallic coil spring. Secondary combustion air enters through three 3/8" diameter holes in the fuel door which are covered with a spinner.
