CSA A277* Factory Built Buildings
The factory built units are constructed at the Radec Group Inc. manufacturing facility located in Penticton, BC and transported to the intended building site. When completely assembled, the units are equipped with all normal facilities to connect to municipal plumbing and electrical services. The prefabricated units constructed in one (or more) sections, are set onto the building's foundation and joined together at the building site.
The certification covers in-factory built prefabricated buildings, and partially or fully enclosed modules for buildings of any occupancy.
If the size or complexity of a project may exceed the requirements of part 9 of the Building Code, and may give rise to special safety concerns, Intertek at its discretion or as directed by the Building Code groups or other AHJ's, may require that all or part of the plans and specifications of a building be imprinted with the seals or stamps of either a registered architectural professional or one or more registered engineering professionals, and that the in-factory review during construction of a building be performed by the same professionals where engineering or architectural work is involved.
The Intertek mark warrants an approved in-factory certification procedure, applicable to prefabricated buildings, modules, and manufactured homes that complement the required on-site inspection and testing. Intertek mark also assures the proper fabrication at the plant and adherence to all necessary local codes including structural, plumbing, gas, heating and electrical services and intends to circumvent the necessity to inspect by local authorities the above mentioned services. The Intertek mark does not cover site connections to municipal services, other not certified units, or site mounting features.
