SAFTI FIRST Model GPX T1 Ballistic Window Frame System
Meets requirements of
UL 752 (2011), Levels 3 thru 8.
Maximum Size of Glazing: Per glazing certification.
Maximum Size of Frame: No restriction.
Limitations:
- Minimum clear-view between structural components is 10.5” x 10.5" (12” x 12” minimum glazing pane size) to meet UL 752 requirements.
- Glazing must be certified for compliance with UL 752 for the same level as the frame.
- Glazing must be certified for sizes, dimensions, and appropriate ballistic level as the window frame system.
- The Window Frame System support structure consists of rectangular or square carbon steel tubing framework – sized to fit the opening and glazing thickness – and having minimum 1/8” [3.2mm, ref. 11 Ga] wall thickness.
- Vertical pieces of the support structure tubing must be no more than ½” (12.7mm) shorter than the height of the rough opening.
- The maximum annular gap between certified glazing panes and the carbon steel support structure is ¼” (6.35mm).
- The glazing pane(s) is(are) retained in the support structure framework utilizing carbon steel glazing retainers (on both sides of the opening) having minimum 1/8” [3.2mm) ref. 11 Ga] wall thickness.
- The annular perimeter space between the building rough opening and window frame system support structure must be filled with a pair of minimum 3/16” (4.76mm) thick carbon steel angles, positioned back-to-back, with one angle attached into the rough opening framing and the other attached to the outer perimeter of the carbon steel tubing framework surfaces. The angles are also attached to each other.
- The maximum permissible gap through the rough opening - at any location - once the window frame system and glazing panes are installed - is 3/8” (9.5mm) square.
- Frame aesthetics and low-maintenance surface finishes are achieved via "snap-on" aluminum extrusions that are applied over the glazing retainers. These aluminum extrusions do not contribute to the ballistic rating.
Unless otherwise noted, assemblies have been tested in accordance with the following standard:
- UL-752, Bullet Resisting Equipment. Assemblies are identified by a label or marking bearing the Certification Mark and the wording, "Listed Bullet Resistant", a serial number, and one of the following UL 752 ratings:
Level 3, Level 4, Level 5, Level 6, Level 7, Level 8
