FIRETEX® FX9502 is a high solids epoxy intumescent coating for the fire protection of steel structures.
FIRETEX FX9502 is a two component epoxy coating used to enhance the fire resistance of structural materials by providing a layer of insulation, which is formed as a result of a chemical reaction initiated by fire. This insulation reduces the rate of heat transfer and extends the time period for which the structural material can resist the weakening effects of the heat. It is designed to protect against the severe conditions that are associated with the combustion of cellulosic materials (wood, paper, cardboard, natural fabrics, etc.).
A manufacturer approved anti- corrosive primer and/or topcoat can be applied.
Normal in service temperature range for FIRETEX FX9502 is between -20°C (-4°F) and 80°C (176°F). Please consult Sherwin-Williams Technical Customer Support for advice regarding temperatures outside this range.
It is preferred that all applicators of FIRETEX FX9502 have undergone training by Sherwin-Williams prior to undertaking application work on a project.
Since product failure could threaten life in an emergency fire situation, applicators must not deviate from recommendations without express written agreement from an authorized Sherwin-Williams FIRETEX™ representative.
