PWT Rim Board is an engineered wood product for use in rim board applications around the perimeter of engineered wood joists. OSB Rim Board is oriented strand board (OSB) minimum 1-in. thick (wide), PWT LVL Rim Board is laminated veneer lumber (LVL)and all are available in depths ranging from 9-1/2 to 24 in. OSB consists of wood strands bonded together using an exterior-type structural adhesive. LVL consists of layers of wood veneer laminated together using an exterior-type structural adhesive.
Rim board products are installed according to PWT installation instructions as center-wall or end-wall fire-rated assemblies. The continuous rim board on top of the wall may be parallel with or perpendicular to the floor joists.
