Product Description:
The ceiling damper models in combination with an approved fan as listed in the table above are approved in accordance with UL 555C, as an alternative to a hinged-door sheet metal damper over a minimum 12 in. diameter duct outlet that has been previously approved in ASTM E119 or UL 263 fire resistance-rated floor/ceiling or roof/ceiling assemblies with a Restrained or Unrestrained Rating not to exceed 3 hours.  Maximum number of ceiling dampers and spacing shall be as specified in the design listing for the corresponding fire resistance-rated assembly.

The ceiling damper models in combination with an approved fan as listed in the table above are approved in accordance with CAN/ULC-S112.2, as an alternative to a hinged-door sheet metal damper over a minimum 12 in. diameter duct outlet that has been previously approved in CAN/ULC-S101 fire resistance-rated floor/ceiling or roof/ceiling assemblies with a Restrained or Unrestrained Rating not to exceed 3 hours.  Maximum number of ceiling dampers and spacing shall be as specified in the design listing for the corresponding fire resistance-rated assembly.

The ceiling damper and fan combination shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions for either of the following two installation methods:
  1. Suspend the unit from the supporting construction with minimum 12 GA steel wire at each corner.
  2. Mount the unit by mechanically fastening the hanger bars to adjacent structural members excluding suspended ceiling support framing (ceiling grid). Four attachment points are required (one extending from each corner).  When fan unit is equipped with only three hanger bar attachment points, use the ceiling damper model equipped with four hanger bars.
