Product Description
The SpecSlide Smoke and Draft Door and Frame Assembly is a sliding door system consisting of a flush wood (1-3/4 inch particleboard core) or a glazed aluminum door installed in the Special-Lite aluminum extruded frame in accordance with UL 1784. The jambs and head of the frame are constructed from extruded aluminum.
For a wood particleboard core door, a single row of pile gasket (on one side of the door) or two rows of pile gaskets (one row on each side of the door) is incorporated into the retainers of the frame between the door and frame on the leading edge of the door and the head of the door. For a glazed aluminum door, two rows of pile gaskets (one row on each side of the door) are incorporated into the retainers of the frame between the door and frame on the leading edge of the door and the head of the door. For both door types, a triple fin gasket is applied to the trailing edge of the door between the door and trim of the frame and an automatic door bottom is utilized at the bottom of the door. A vinyl glazing seal is required on each side of the glazing around the entire perimeter of the glazing (when present).
Note: All gaskets listed above are supplied by Special-Lite as a complete system. The vinyl glazing seal and glazing is supplied by the aluminum door manufacturer as part of their completed assembly.
An "S" label applied to the frame shall cover both the frame and door when the following requirements are met:

*These assemblies were tested without an artificial bottom seal using the supplied automatic door bottoms and perimeter gasket packages. The assemblies, utilizing the same automatic door bottom and perimeter gasket, may be installed in areas where pressurization is provided to control smoke movement in accordance with Section 4.3.2 of NFPA 105 (2022) and for hoistway opening protection and lobby doorways as allowed in Chapter 30 of the IBC.
