Door Bottoms
The door bottom models below are recognized for installation on Listed and labeled hollow metal doors and/or Listed and labeled wood or fiberglass faced doors.
XG2212_PK773 and 325XG_N_ Excessive Gap Door Bottoms: These products may be used to remedy excessive gap conditions at the bottom of the door up to 1.5” when installed per NFPA 80.
The installation of the door bottom cannot interfere with vent holes that may be present in the bottom of hollow metal doors.
Perimeter Gaps
EGA305XG Excessive Top Gap Seal: This product may be used to remedy excessive gap conditions at the top of the door up to 1/2” when installed per NFPA 80. The perimeter gap seal is recognized for installation on Listed and labeled hollow metal doors and/or Listed and labeled wood or fiberglass faced doors.
XG10 Excessive Gap Seal: This product may be used to remedy excessive tap conditions around the perimeter of the door up to 1/4” (wood and hollow metal doors as stated in the table below) or 5/16” (hollow metal doors only used in conjunction with one strip of Tecnofire® 2000 [1 1/2” wide by 1.3mm thick) installed on top or in the top of the hollow metal door) when installed per NFPA 80. Not for use on the meeting edge of pairs. Strike shims (XGSHIM478 and XGSHIM234) are required on the latch edge of the assembly when the gap exceeds 1/8” at the latching location. The perimeter gap seal is recognized for installation on Listed and labeled hollow metal doors and/or Listed and labeled wood or fiberglass faced doors. For use in any Listed fire rated “Category C – Standard Frames” (fully grouted or un-grouted) and any Listed fire rated "Category C – Proprietary Frames” per the frame manufacturers individual listing(s).
Meeting Edge Gaps
XG90SSME-KIT Excessive Gap Seal Set: This product may be used to remedy excessive gap conditions at the meeting edge of a pair of doors up to 1/2” when installed per NFPA 80. The excessive gap seal set is recognized for installation on Listed and labeled hollow metal doors and/or Listed and labeled wood or fiberglass faced doors.
For use on the inactive door (only) of a paired opening with standard 3-point latching with manual type flush bolts only (extension type, corner mounted, or surface mounted). May also be installed on either door leaf of a paired opening with 4-point, 3-point or 2-point latching (SVR or CVR exit devices).
Thermal (fire) pins may be utilized at the meeting edge of a pair of doors with the thermal pin being adjusted to be flush with the edge of the XG90SSME-KIT Excessive Gap Seal Set and per the hardware and/or door manufacturer's individual listing(s).
Strike Shims
XGSHIM478 and XGSHIM234 Strike Shims: These products may be used in conjunction with the excessive perimeter gaps seals and meeting edge gap seals to maintain full engagement of the latch bolt into the strike of the frame. The strike shims are recognized for installation in any listed fire rated “Category C – Standard Frame” or in any listed fire rated “Category C – Proprietary Frame” in accordance with the frame manufacturer’s individual listing(s).
Note: All other requirements and limitations specified within the door manufacturer’s listing(s) still apply.

The excessive gap product as described in this procedure met the requirements for a 60 minute positive pressure fire test (wood and hollow metal doors) and for a 90 minute positive pressure fire test (hollow metal doors only) in accordance with UL 10C, NFPA 252, and CAN/ULC S104. |
